Bridge Construction Project

Reykjavik, Iceland

The bridge, which would be 230m long after completed, succeeded to supply three KRS1022 high flow pumps for a large bridge building project would connect the mainland over the Fjord Kolgrafarfjodur in the west part of Iceland, about 172km away from Reykjavik.

The pumps worked to empty the caissons during the construction of the foundation for the bridge piles.

To protect the pump from clogging by solids and sand, every pump was placed in a cage. These pumps were used for the period of about six (6) months in seawater. The distributor applied a seawater protection by fixing zinc anodes to the bottom of the strainer. Without any spare parts replacement the pumps fulfilled their job at 100%.
